Downtown Winter Haven gets new Pediatrics Group Building

Life Sciences & Medical Services, News, Polk County, Winter Haven

A property on U.S. 17 in downtown Winter Haven will soon get a face lift, when a 22,000-square-foot medical building will replace the long vacant bank drive-through.

The building, to be built on the block on the east side of U.S. 17 and between Pope Avenue Northwest and Central Avenue West, will house Pediatric Partners, a Winter Haven pediatrician group that has operated in Winter Haven for about 12 years, according to a Pediatric Partners administrator.

“There’s a need for further growth of pediatric care … and we’re committed to the community and that’s how the new building came to be,” said Pediatrics Partners Clinic Administrator Kelly Standwood.

“We’ve grown tremendously in the five years I have been here.”

Standwood said the company expects to hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the two-story, 22,404-square-foot building on Monday.

The building also will include a pediatric urgent care clinic, which Standwood said is “urgently needed” in Winter Haven and will include additional rental space for other doctors offices.

Standwood said she expects to hire 13 or 14 new doctors and staff members once the building is complete, which should happen in December or January.

Pediatric Partners is owned by Raypar Inc., which also owns True MD, Nite Owl Urgent Care, Trinity Medical Center, Lakeland Spine Center and Pediatric Associates — all in Lakeland.

This is great news for the City of Winter Haven and another exciting development added to the list of successes in the CFDC’s Life Sciences & Medical Services cluster. We are looking forward to seeing the new building when it’s up and running!
