Join the CFDC Business Development Team

The Central Florida Development Council is hiring. Learn more about joining a team working to grow Polk County’s economic prosperity.

The business development associate position is an entry level role responsible for supporting the objectives of the CFDC business development team through organizing data, timely reporting, and maintaining stakeholder relationships. Candidates should be task-oriented, organized, relational and energetic. This position requires the ability to meet deadlines, be attentive to details and manage expectations.

Position Opportunities:

  • Entry level role to assist with the implementation of the business development program of the Central Florida Development Council for the purpose of recruiting new businesses to Polk County and helping existing businesses expand 
  • Assist marketing Polk County, Florida as a premier business destination and location 
  • Assist the business development team with site selection, site tours and other economic development programs 
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of real estate and location assets 
  • Help respond to requests for proposals (RFP) 
  • Assist with the project process in coordination with the BD team 
  • Assist with incentive applications in coordination with the BD team 
  • Prepare research reports and gather data necessary to accomplish the mission of the CFDC 
  • In coordination with the VP of Business Development, nurture lead generation networks including local real estate professionals, site selection consultants, targeted trade sector business decision makers, industry representatives, trade associations, partners, government leaders and other state and local agencies 
  • Document business and project interactions and activities in the CRM system 

Qualifications of an Ideal Candidate: 

  • Associate degree (or higher) from accredited college or university 
  • Knowledge of real estate, sales, marketing, planning, engineering, and other related subjects helpful 
  • Skilled in establishing and managing effective relationships with business and community leaders 
  • Skilled in presenting technical information clearly and concisely 
  • Experience in MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook 
  • Polk County resident with a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
