We look forward to becoming a member of the community.”

Company Need
Steel is an essential raw material for several key sectors and industries. Polk County is a growing market where there is an abundant supply of scrap to be utilized, recycled and then put back into the economy.
Why Central Florida
With over 11.1 million consumers within a 100-mile radius, Polk County offered a consumption-driven profit margin and regional connectivity.

Solution
Nucor’s steel mill is a low-cost producer due to it’s central location- they are close to the scrap metal they buy which saves on freight. This gives and the region a cost advantage over competitors shipping rebar into the region from long distances. It is also close to its consumer base, again saving money on freight.
